Regarding the level of basketball displayed all throughout the season, EuroLeague has once again delivered, putting the icing on the cake at the 2024 Final Four played at the Uber Arena in Berlin.
Another success, moreover, came off the court. Talking about the digital growth and the social media engagement of the competition at the pinnacle annual event, the EuroLeague media team managed to reach historical highs, celebrating huge numbers.
“The Final Four conversation reached unparalleled heights, with fans watching more videos than ever before. A staggering 165.3 million video views marked a 163% increase from the previous season. Engagement levels soared, with 22.4 million interactions representing a 110% growth. This surge in digital activity was driven primarily by YouTube, which experienced a remarkable rise of 163% in engagement and a 48% increase in video views”, the press release says.
A huge role was also played by the newly introduced YouTube Pre-game Show with EuroLeague Champion Dimitris Itoudis, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz player Chima Moneke, basketball expert Leigh Ellis, and Deniz Aksoy. “The show garnered an impressive 13.4 million accumulated views, significantly contributing to the overall success”, the announcement continues.
Social media engagement was on another level. “EuroLeague Basketball’s social media accounts emerged as the leading conversation creators, accumulating 6.8 million engagements, an 86% increase, and reaching 83.5 million viewers, a 118% rise”, it says. “Instagram also played a crucial role, delivering a spectacular 120% growth in engagement and an astonishing 314% increase in video views compared to the previous season. The platform provided fans with an inside view of all the top moments from the event”, the press release adds on Instagram.
