A veteran of 456 games in the NBA, Stanley Johnson is nearing a deal with Anadolu Efes, per Eurohoops sources.

Johnson, 28, played for the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Pelicans, and Detroit Pistons in the league based in North America. After spending the 2023-24 campaign in the G League with the Stockton Kings, using his overseas options led to the Istanbul outfit.

Reacting to parting ways with Will Clyburn, Efes has been scanning the market, focusing the search on forwards.

Coming out of Arizona, Johnson was selected with the eighth overall pick of the 2015 NBA draft by the Pistons. After four years at Motor City, he went on to briefer stints across remaining NBA stops. Last season with the affiliate of the Kings, he tallied 15.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per contest over 36 appearances.

After reaching the Play-In Showdown of the 2023-24 edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague behind a solid finish to the Regular Season, the Turkish club fell to Virtus Segafredo Bologna and missed the opportunity to clinch a berth in the Playoffs. At the domestic level, losing a best-of-five championship series to Fenerbahce Beko ranked the team second in the final standings of the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi.

Jumping into the offseason, Efes announced the additions of Vincent Poirier and Rolands Smits, powering the frontline for the team coached by Tomislav Mijatovic. Also, leading star Shane Larkin inked a four-year contract extension.
