Zalgiris swaps Hayes for Dunston

By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net

Zalgiris Kaunas announced two moves, with one player leaving and another arriving in the same position.

As officially confirmed, Kevarrius Hayes left the Lithuanian club, while experienced Bryant Dunston joined Andrea Trinchieri’s team.

Hayes spent the past two seasons in Kaunas, averaging 5.6 points and four rebounds in 34 EuroLeague appearances last season, winning the Lithuanian championship and King Mindaugas Cup in 2023.

He will be replaced by a player who spent 11 consecutive seasons in the top continental competition, eight with Anadolu Efes, with whom he won two EuroLeague titles.

Last summer, Dunston moved to Italy, averaging 4.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per 19 minutes in the EuroLeague.

Dunston was twice recognized as the best defensive player of the EuroLeague season (2014 and 2015) and twice led the competition in blocked shots (2014 and 2018). He was also part of the EuroLeague First Team in 2017.

We want to thank Kevarrius for his time at Zalgiris Kaunas. For the upcoming season, we were looking for a slightly different style of player who would be more suited to the sailing lineup. Despite his solid age, Bryant is still highly motivated to win and compete at the highest level. We believe that his experience and leadership qualities will help the team and players reveal their potential even faster in the new season,” Žalgiris sports director Gediminas Navickas said about the frontcourt changes.
