Coming off a perfect game shooting-wise from the field with the New York Knicks in the NBA Summer League, Rokas Jokubaitis commented about his future in the aftermath.
Surrounded by rumors regarding his potential return to Zalgiris Kaunas, he confirmed the talks in an interview with the New York Post. “The whole of Europe is talking about it. But I still have a contract with Barcelona. It’s more of like we’re in talks [with Zalgiris] but not very near to signing. Still, I have a contract with Barca, and in a few weeks, we will see where I will go”, he said.
Being stashed by the New York Knicks after they selected him with the 34th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, he feels ready for the NBA. “At this point, I don’t have any preference. I played my whole life in Europe but I always wanted to come back here to see myself how I would do here. My options are free and why not try it here also?”, Rokas Jokubaitis added.
In the NBA Summer League 2024, he recently helped his team get the 106-105 win against the Sacramento Kings with 16 points and 5 assists.
The 23-year-old Lithuanian guard is coming off his third EuroLeague season with Barcelona, where he averaged 5.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
