As officially announced, LDLC ASVEL added another piece for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
Talented French forward Melvin Ajinca will join the Villeurbanne team after playing in the NBA Summer League with the Dallas Mavericks.
Impressive with Saint-Quentin for his first two years in Betclic Elite (9.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 2023-2024), the French winger was drafted 51st overall by the New York Knicks last June before being sent to Dallas.
After not convincing Dallas to give him a place on the roster during the Summer League, he decided to join ASVEL and debut in the EuroLeague.
“I am very happy that Melvin trusts us for the next stage of his development after two full years at Saint-Quentin. He is a young but experienced player who will bring us superior athleticism at the small forward position while being a real threat from the outside shot,” said ASVEL head coach Pierric Poupet.
The former INSEP trainee is the fifth addition to ASVEL this summer, after Shaquille Harrison, Admiral Schofield, Tarik Black, and Neal Sako. Nando De Colo, Edwin Jackson, and Charles Kahudi extended their stay.
