Panathinaikos AKTOR signed head coach Ergin Ataman to a contract extension until 2027, club owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos announced. Ataman’s previous deal with the Greens was set to expire in 2025.

“It brings me great joy to announce that the top coach in Europe Mr. Ergin Ataman has agreed to be the head coach of Panathinaikos for the next three years,” Giannakopoulos wrote.

In his first season with Panathinaikos, Ataman led the team to win the 2024 EuroLeague championship and Greek League titles. The Greek side claimed its seventh EuroLeague trophy after finishing 17th in 2022-23.

This was the third EuroLeague championship in Ataman’s career following the back-to-back titles that the Turkish coach won in 2021 and 2022 with Anadolu Efes.
