Sasha Vezenkov is officially a member of Olympiacos again signing a five-year deal that will pay him a total of 18,5M euros net, making him the second highest-paid player in the history of Olympiacos after Josh Childress.
Olympiacos has offered Vezenkov one of the biggest contracts ever in European basketball history, both on salary and duration which translates to 3,7M annual salary.
For the move to be completed Vezenkov decided to forfeit his NBA contract, leaving on the table a $6,8M gross guaranteed salary for next season, an unprecedented decision for this kind of an amount.
His new contract, however, is more than solid compensation. After all, Vezenkov’s decision was made because he wished to return to Olympiacos and compete for the EuroLeague title. The financial numbers only mirror his value as it was set with the NBA contract that was signed last summer.
Vezenkov and Olympiacos will hold a press conference today.
