AS Monaco’s owner Alexey Fedorychev seized 41 million euros in Italy

Since when the Ukrainian billionaire Alexey Fedorychev took over AS Monaco, the red-and-white Monegasque side has become an unstoppable growing force in European basketball.

Securing the extension of EuroLeague MVP Mike James is only the latest accomplishment by the owner, who’s willing to do whatever it takes to bring the team to success in the EuroLeague. However, things may get difficult for him personally from now on.

Accused of several crimes in his own country – according to Corriere Fiorentino -, such as corruption of public officials, fraud against a Ukrainian public company, and money laundering, several of the 69-year-old tycoon’s properties got seized in Italy.

As reported again by Corriere Fiorentino, a total amount of 41 million euros was deprived by the court of Florence. This came following a request for international assistance from the Kyiv Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Among other properties, his castle in Torre del Gallo was seized too.

It’s currently unknown if what happened in recent times will influence the near future of AS Monaco’s ownership of investments towards the following season in both the LNB and the EuroLeague.
