A two-year contract extension keeps Elie Okobo at AS Monaco.

La Roca Team announced the agreement on Sunday.

Okobo, 26, emerged as the fifth player to re-sign with Monaco during the offseason, following in the footsteps of Jaron Blossomgame, Mike James, Mouhammadou Jaiteh, and Donatas Motiejunas. Additional options for head coach Sasa Obradovic in the form of summer signings are Juhann Begarin, Vitto Brown, Juhann Begarin, and Giorgos Papagiannis.

“I am happy to sign a contract extension,” said Okobo, “We have been building something with the team over the last two years. Each season, we get very close to achieving our goals, especially on the European stage. We try for the best possible results in France. I am satisfied with the effort.”

“I think that with the group growing, looking to daily work with the coaching staff, we have the means to reach our ambitions,” he added, “It will not be easy, but it will require daily work, finding our chemistry. I really can not wait for this new season to start, to do something special, even better than previous years.”

In the 2023-24 installment of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Okobo tallied 11.0 points, 3.1 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.7 steals per contest. Logging 37 appearances, including three starts, upped his career total to 105. His side advanced to the Playoffs of Europe’s premier club continental competition as the second seed, carrying homecourt advantage, but was knocked out by Fenerbahce Beko in five games.

Back in 2018, the Bordeaux native was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 31st overall pick of the annual NBA draft. After 108 games played in the NBA with the Suns, he returned to his home country and joined LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne for the 2021-22 season, before playing for Monaco over the last two years. He has been crowned Betclic Elite champion for three years in a row between ASVEL and Monaco.
