Carrying the experience of 42 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague over the last two years, Rafi Menco re-signed with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.
Menco, 30, penned a one-year contract extension, the team announced on Tuesday.
Per the press release: “Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv re-signed Rafi Menco for another season. The 30-years-old Israeli small forward, standing 2.01 M (6ft 7in) will come back for a third straight season in yellow, after winning two local championships with the team.
“I am happy to continue at the club for a third season”, confirmed Rafi Menco in a video. “I can’t wait for the season to start so I can meet you all. We are facing a season with many challenges and I am sure that together we will rise to them. I also want to thank the management, the coaching staff and of course to you for all the support. Wishing us good luck. Yalla Maccabi!”.

“Rafi Menco is a very important player in our roster and we are very pleased that he continues with us”, said coach Oded Kattash, emphasizing: “This is another layer in the continuity of the squad from the previous season. Everyone knows the advantages that Rafi brings to the court. He will always give his all on the floor, he’s a professional and has a set of skills on both sides of the court. He will help us a lot”.
Sporting director Avi Even added: “Rafi Menco is a very important player for Maccabi Tel Aviv on and off the court. He is valuable in many aspects and was a key factor in the club’s previous two championships. His continuation with us for next season comes natural and we’re pleased about it”.
This will be Menco’s 12th season in the top Israeli league. He averaged 21.9 minutes per game in the previous domestic campaign, providing 8.5 PPG, 4.9 RPG and his trademark energies and physicality. In the EuroLeague, the forward appeared in 20 games during Maccabi’s playoffs run.”
