Joining the yellow-and-blue German team in the summer of 2023, Matt Thomas won’t play anywhere else but Berlin at least for another season, as he officially extended his contract with ALBA.

The American guard had 10.1 points per game in last year’s EuroLeague. He was a huge factor in three-point shots in the BBL Playoffs, averaging 14.4 points per game while almost shooting 50.0% from deep.

Before moving to ALBA Berlin, he played in the prior EuroLeague season with Panathinaikos, and previously in his career spent time in the 2018-19 EuroCup with Valencia. In the NBA, he had experiences in Toronto, Utah, and Chicago.

He declared his satisfaction upon this move. “I am very happy to return to ALBA. It is the first time in my career that I can stay with the same club and in the same city for a second season. Having this continuity and stability was an important factor in my decision”, he commented.

Talking to the club’s official website, Himar Ojeda talked about the extension. “Matt [Thomas] is an absolute model professional – but like every new signing, he needed a little time to get used to our style. But by the second half of last season at the latest, everyone had seen what an incredible player he is. He will also be very important for our team in the coming season”, ALBA Berlin’s sports director said.
