Omer Yurtseven has been in the NBA since 2021. However, the 26-year-old center appears increasingly likely to continue his career in Europe.
According to a report from the Greek outlet SDNA, Panathinaikos has made an official offer for the free agent Yurtseven. The report states that coach Ergin Ataman has given the club president, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, the “green light” for the signing of the Turkish player.
Another detail mentioned in the report is that the 26-year-old player is open to continuing his career in Greece.
Panathinaikos coach Ergin Ataman recently stated in an interview that Omer Yurtseven had been suggested to them and confirmed that he is one of the players on their list.
Yurtseven agreed to join EuroLeague champions
According to Eurohoops sources, Yurtseven has agreed in principle to return to Europe for Panathinaikos, asking a few days before finalising the deal to examine his last NBA chances.
After spending three years at Fenerbahçe at the start of his career, Yurtseven went to the United States in 2016, where he spent four years playing for NC State and Georgetown. He was not selected in the 2020 NBA Draft, so he developed his skills in the NBA G League before finally getting an opportunity in May 2021, thanks to the Miami Heat.
Last season, he also played for the Utah Jazz, appearing in 48 games and averaging 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds, but it seems that he has exhausted his NBA opportunities, as he has yet to find a new club in the United States.
