Vanja Marinkovic couldn’t expect a better month of August before the start of his comeback season with Partizan Belgrade, rejoining his childhood club five years after leaving it for Spain.
After winning the bronze medal representing his country at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the 27-year-old shooting guard was named captain of the black-and-white club for the upcoming campaign.
During the “Black and White Symphony” event in Belgrade, the special occasion in which the new roster of Zeljko Obradovic‘s team was unveiled, Vanja Marinkovic took the mic to comment on such role.
“I have to say that I am proud to be here again. It is a special honor for me that I will be the captain of the biggest club in the world, the club where I grew up and where I became a player. I believe in all my teammates, even though we met 20 minutes ago”, he said as reported by Meridian Sport.
“But I really believe in everyone, I believe in the coaches, the administration… Most importantly, I believe in all of you. Playing for Partizan is a privilege and an honor. Playing for Partizan means playing for the best fans in the world. Long live Partizan”, he followed.
Vanja Marinkovic grew up and represented Partizan from 2011 to 2019, leaving Serbia for Valencia. After two seasons with the orange club, he moved to Vitoria-Gasteiz to represent Baskonia. In the 2023-24 EuroLeague season, he promised 11.0 points per game.
