Partizan Belgrade completely changed shape during the summer, basically renewing almost the totality of the roster by bringing in 13 new players. But that wasn’t the initial plan.

Zeljko Obradovic spoke to Partizan TV about his club’s transformation. “We had to plan this way due to the circumstances. Of course, we hadn’t planned to change almost the entire team. But considering the circumstances that occurred during the summer, I believe we did a very good job”, he said.

The legendary Serbian head coach followed on his satisfaction. “Some players wanted to leave our club. We had some options regarding other players and we made some moves by agreeing with them. As a result, we created a completely new team, I think we should be happy with what we did during the summer”, he commented.

Partizan Belgrade can now count on the contributions of its newcomers, such as Arijan Lakic, Sterling Brown, Duane Washington, Mario Nakic, Isaac Bonga, Isiaha Mike, Vanja Marinkovic, Iffe Lundberg, Frank Ntilikina, Tyrique Jones, Brandon Davies, Aleksej Pokusevski, and Carlik Jones.

The experienced tactical mastermind also spoke about his team’s freshness. “This team is one of the youngest teams in the EuroLeague, just like last season. The average age is a little over 25. We will play aggressive basketball in every sense, both defensively and offensively”, he continued.

“It takes time to get along, for the players to get to know each other, while also to get to know me and my coaching staff. I am always open to talking to my players and I told them this in the first meeting. I expect them to talk to me, think about how their own game should be, and then influence the team’s game. Most importantly, I want us to perform well on the court as a team”, Zeljko Obradovic added.
