Real Madrid made a significant move before the 2024/25 season by bringing back Spanish national team player Usman Garuba.
After three years in the NBA, the 22-year-old is returning to the EuroLeague, and he can’t hide his joy at having the chance to wear Real Madrid’s jersey once again.
“It’s an incredible feeling to return to what has been my home since I was 10 or 11 years old. Being able to come back here is a dream for me. I’m very happy and looking forward to it. For me, Real Madrid has been everything from the very first moment. I have developed here in every sense, both academically and as a player. I have to thank this club for everything I am today,” Garuba said to Real Madrid TV.
His goals are set high.
“You want to be where you are valued and loved. I am excited about the day-to-day, but what I am most excited about is winning a EuroLeague with Madrid. I am happy to be back and to be able to be close to all the people who make up this team, not just the players but the entire staff and those behind them, who are great people. They are people with whom I have kept in touch; they are special people, and I have always had good memories of them. It is special to be back.”
Garuba was drafted 23rd overall and played for the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors in the NBA. He had limited playing time, appearing in 105 regular-season games and averaging 2.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
“I am more mature in every sense. I have experienced many things. My goal is to work for the team, fight, and sacrifice for it. I am a versatile player, capable of doing many things on the court, and that is how I can help the team,” Usman Garuba concluded.
