Partizan parted ways with James Nunnally after two years, and President Ostoja Mijailović explained the reasons behind the decision.
“He’s a really good guy, and his name is written in the history of Partizan. We must not forget the incident with a Crvena Zvezda player at the end of last season. Željko Obradović decided not to play him, even though he was the best player in the previous game. But imagine if the incident had happened during the match, and then the EuroLeague disqualified us. However, with the contract, players also sign a disciplinary code, which must be followed. Nunnally was punished because he got into a fight with a Red Star player. However, Nunnally didn’t appreciate these comments and responded fiercely on social media.
“This is defamation of character since I acted in self-defense. Ostoja Mijailović, come on now, let’s not talk about team rules & regulations. You can’t say this but not pay me on time for two years. I guess rules & contracts only apply if players don’t follow them?! I’ll stop here,” Nunnally wrote on Twitter.
