Crvena Zvezda president Nebojsa Covic revealed that his team was interested in signing now-former Partizan Belgrade guard Aleksa Avramovic. He also expressed his belief that the player was unhappy with his playing time last season.

“He came from Manila where he played perfectly but didn’t play in the season at all,” Covic said per Mozzart. “It was so painful that he couldn’t wait to leave. We thought about him at one time but we agreed with our fans to not make any more transfers from Partizan to Zvezda. We want to respect that on the senior team. I think Aleksa is a great man and player, so I’m sorry. Maybe one day.”

Avramovic is now a player of CSKA Moscow so Crvena Zvezda will have to wait at least a year before making a potential move for him.

Red Star did sign a former Partizan player this summer: Guard Codi Miller-McIntyre who is coming from a stellar debut season in the EuroLeague with Baskonia.

“We talked about Codi Miller-McIntyre, he had a specific situation, because you know how he left Partizan,” Covic mentioned.

And how about Bruno Caboclo, the Brazilian national team teammate of Zvezda guard Yago Dos Santos? “We didn’t think about Bruno Caboclo, even though all kinds of things were written. We thought about him until he came to Partizan. There was talk of figures of 900,000, 1,000,000 euros… That’s why we stopped thinking about him. It would be interesting to see Yago [Dos Santos] and Caboclo together.”
