Guerschon Yabusele officially terminated his stay at Real Madrid after three EuroLeague and ACB seasons with the club and returned to the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Spanish powerhouse communicated the news on its website. “Real Madrid CF and Guerschon Yabusele have agreed to end his time as a player at our club. Real Madrid would like to show its gratitude and affection for the three seasons in which he has defended our shirt. Real Madrid wishes him and his family all the best in this new stage of his life“, the press release says.

During his stay in the Spanish capital, the dominant power forward won seven titles: one EuroLeague, two ACB Leagues, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish SuperCups. Moreover, he became one of first Pablo Laso’s and then Chus Mateo’s most important assets in the club.

As I write these lines, I’m very moved. I joined Real Madrid in 2021 at a pivotal moment in my life, with the aim of pushing forward my career. As soon as I arrived, Real Madrid did everything they could to make me and my family feel at home and I’m so thankful for that“, Guerschon Yabusele shared.

Once playing for the Boston Celtics, the 28-year-old will make his long-awaited NBA return after showcasing to the American audience the growth he went through in his time in the EuroLeague, first with ASVEL and then with Real Madrid. He did so at the Olympic Games in Paris, where he was crucial in grabbing his second-ever Olympic silver medal after Tokyo 2020. In the final against Team USA, he had a 20-point losing effort.

PHILADELPHIA OFFICIALLY ADDS YABUSELE

The Philadelphia 76ers have announced the signing of 2024 Olympic silver medalist Guerschon Yabusele, who will wear No. 28.

Yabusele joins Philadelphia after representing his home country, France, in an impressive Olympic campaign that culminated in a silver medal. Appearing in each of Les Bleus’ six games, Yabusele averaged 14.0 points (second on the team) and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 51.9% from the field. Following the tournament, he was named to the All-Second Team.

Yabusele spent the last three seasons playing in Spain for Real Madrid. This past season, he played in 64 games (35 starts) across ACB and EuroLeague, averaging 9.7 points (53.1% FG, 44.5% 3P, 81.3% FT) and 4.0 rebounds per game. In addition to Real Madrid, Yabusele has played in France (ASVEL Basket, Rouen Métropole Basket, Chorale Roanne Basket), the United States (Boston Celtics), and China (Nanjing Monkey Kings, Shanghai Sharks), dating back to his professional debut in 2013.

In 2016, Yabusele was selected by Boston with the No. 16 overall pick in the draft, eventually signing with the team in 2017 following an All-Star season in the CBA with Shanghai. He spent two seasons with the Celtics (2017-19), appearing in 74 games. He also suited up for 17 games (15 starts) with Boston’s G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, between 2016-19,” per the official press release.
