AS Monaco’s growth in recent years has been astonishing, going from winning the BKT EuroCup by storming surprise to reaching the EuroLeague Final Four and competing until the end in the Playoffs. But the Monegasque side doesn’t certainly want to stop here.

Talking with Nice-Matin and with his words reported by Basket Europe, the team’s 38-year-old General Manager Oleksiy Yefimov spoke on the club’s ambition in the EuroLeague. “We are working hard behind the scenes to achieve our goal of an A License. I really hope that you will see the concrete result of all this soon”, he revealed.

One of the men behind the team’s success spoke about their trajectory. “You say, no one imagines Monaco in the EuroCup, but let’s look at it the other way around: the whole European basketball scene has a hard time believing that we joined the Euroleague only three years ago”, Oleksiy Yefimov followed.

“We have invested a lot. Even qualifying for the playoffs is seen today as a minimum objective and not as a success in its own right. I see it as recognition”, the Ukrainian also commented.

He also provided an update on Mike James. “He is expected back in training camp around the second week of September. During the summer, he required minor back surgery, which should allow him to put a line under the issues that hampered him during last season’s playoffs”, he commented.
