Monaco has been going through some renovations this summer, bringing in several new faces to trying put the bar even higher. Georgios Papagiannis is one of the newest arrivals in the Principality, and he spoke to the club’s YouTube channel to set the club’s goals for this season.

“I was really excited to see and meet my new teammates, we keep going forward. The coach and the management really wanted me to be here”, he first said. “We discussed it with Nick [Calathes] of course, we’ve been together many years so I’m really excited to be with him again. We wait for Mike [James] to be with us”, he also commented about the Greek point guard and the 2024 EuroLeague MVP.

Reaching the Final Four with Fenerbahce last year, he wants to go after the title again with AS Monaco. “I have been following Monaco, they have been at the top since the first day they came to the EuroLeague. They were one game away from the Final Four last year. They were in the Final Four two years ago. We want to go to the Final Four again and conquer the trophy”, he shared.

Bringing in Nick Calathes, Furkan Korkmaz, Vitto Brown, Juhanne Begarin, and Georgios Papagiannis, the red-and-white Monegasque side also laid the foundations to be competitive in the near future. “ The team has been doing a great job, putting the pieces together not just to build for this year but to always be at the top in the upcoming years as well”, the Greek center stated.

Coming off two years with Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce in the EuroLeague, the 27-year-old versatile center has played in his first Olympic Games with the Greek national team. After contributing to the victory at the FIBA OQT in Piraeus, he averaged 2.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in Paris.
