Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv secures the services of 27-year-old American point guard Kobi Simmons for at least the duration of the preseason

Expanding his career overseas as an NBA free agent, Kobe Simmons joined Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.

Simmons, 27, signed for the preseason with a team option to extend the contract into the 2024-25 season, the Yellows announced on Tuesday.

Per the press release:Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv signed Kobi Simmons, a combo guard who played last season in the G-League and in the Toronto Raptors uniform, for the pre-season period.

The 27-year-old Simmons (1.96 m), born in Atlanta, has so far mostly played in the guard positions. He played in the in the ranks of Arizona in the NCAA and joined the Memphis Grizzlies in 2017. Later he spent time in Cleveland, Charlotte and Toronto, as well as in their G-League teams.

Simmons has a record 42 appearances in the NBA, including 12 in the starting line-up, with an average of 17.6 minutes per game. In the 2021/22 season he played for Stal Ostrow of the Polish league.

For most of the past season, as mentioned, Kobe Simmons played in the development team of the Raptors and provided 15.3 points, 5.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds on average per night. Maccabi has an option to extend his contract for the season.”

In a rebuilding offseason for the team coached by Oded Kattash, summer signings Rokas Jokubaitis, Jordan Loyd, and Daryl Macon Jr. were placed alongside Tamir Blatt and John DiBartolomeo in the backcourt. Jake Cohen, Wenyen Gabriel, Jaylen Hoard, Rafi Menco, Levi Randolph, Will Rayman, Jasiel Rivero, and Roman Sorkin are the remaining players on the roster.
