After a great season with Fenerbahce, Nick Calathes joined French champions Monaco.
During an interview with the club’s official Youtube channel, the experienced Greek point guard discussed his decision to sign with the Roca Team.
“I saw a potential to win. Monaco has been to the Final Four or the Playoffs in the last three years. I’m familiar with some of the guys on the team, and we can take another step here and have the opportunity to win. So it is a great opportunity for me to be on a winning team like this,” Calathes said.
He will have a chance to play with Mike James once again.
“I played well with Mike in the past, and now I am getting to know the other guys. I think I am a good fit for the team, and I hope to help it succeed. We have an experienced team with players from the highest level, but there are also many young players who bring energy and passion.”
The ambitions run high in Monaco.
“Our goal will be to make it to the Final Four; then anything can happen there. Everyone saw what Panathinaikos did last year; anything can happen in two games. So our main goal will be to make it to the Final Four,” Calathes concluded.
