BOLOGNA, Italy – Virtus Bologna was officially unveiled to its fans, and right after the event club’s president Massimo Zanetti spoke to media. Asked about the rumors regarding former Hapoel Jerusalem’s owner Ori Allon having an agreement to buy the black-and-white Italian side, he denied.

“I’m the president of Virtus Bologna. I didn’t see any Israeli, anybody. I didn’t make any negotiations. I never saw a written, binding proposal. Sasha Djordjevic’s agent spoke with [Virtus Bologna’s CEO] Luca Baraldi about this possibility. Probably, he wanted to bring his client back to coaching Virtus Bologna. And they went out for lunch. But I don’t care”, he first said.

“What I do is what really matters, because I am the president. Not the ones who go out there talking. If one agent goes out to make proposals, it doesn’t mean we necessarily have to take them for true. Everybody can go out saying bul–hit. [Virtus Bologna’s minor stakeholder] Carlo Gherardi was involved the same morning, but he didn’t want to be part of it. It was an agent’s talk, nothing more”, he added.

Massimo Zanetti later denied once again the rumors. “Where are the Israelis? Where are the Americans? I would like to see them, have you seen them? Where are they? Whenever we sell Virtus Bologna, we will ask disproportionate amount of money”, he ironically concluded.
