Panathinaikos officially signs Cedi Osman

Panathinaikos Athens announced the addition of former NBA wing Cedi Osman. The Turkish player signed a one-year deal with the reigning EuroLeague champions.

Per Panathinaikos:

Panathinaikos BC AKTOR has signed Cedi Osman (29, 2.01 meters) for the 2024-2025 season.

Cedi Osman is a basketball player born on Aprin 8, 1995 in Ohrid, from Turkish father and Bosnian mother. He is a forward who last played for San Antonio Spurs.

Osman, who started playing basketball in Bosnia , joined the Anadolu Efes infrastructure at the age of thirteen and became a Turkish citizen during this period.

He signed a professional contract with Anadolu Efes in 2012 and played for Efes’ pilot team Pertevniyal for two seasons. He later rose to Efes’ first team and played for four seasons. He was selected as an All-Star in the Basketball Super League three times between 2015 and 2017 , and won a Turkish Cup and the Presidential Cup .

He was selected in the first round of the 2015 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves  but his NBA rights were traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers on the same day.

Osman signed a contract with Cleveland in 2017. He played for the Cleveland Cavaliers for six seasons and became one of the team’s key figures. In 2022, Osman became the ninth player to enter the five-hundredth ranks by making 500+ three-pointers with the Cavaliers, and the fifth player in Cavaliers history to make the most three-pointers. In 2023-2024 season he played for San Antonio Spurs.

He spent 7 seasons in NBA averaging 9.3 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in 495 contests.

In 2020, he became Turkey’s national goodwill ambassador by entering the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors list.
