As the season is getting closer, there has been a significant change on Monaco’s roster

Nothing was expected to change until the beginning of the 2024-25 season for AS Monaco after the team’s renovation this summer. Nick Calathes, Georgios Papagiannis, and Vitto Brown reinforced an already competitive team in the EuroLeague to fight for the Final Four.

However, from today, they won’t have John Brown III on board anymore. “A man who was irreproachable in his attitude, his fighting spirit, and his extraordinary qualities as a defender for two years under the colors of the Roca Team. It is difficult to say the number of times JB ended up on the ground fighting for every ball like a lion in a cage”, the team’s press release said.

The versatile forward left the Monegasque side and became a free agent, making other teams in Europe interested considering his massive defensive capabilities. However, he won’t be able to join any team until January 2025, according to AS Monaco’s announcement. “John Brown III injured his shoulder at the end of the previous season, and finds himself convalescing until January 2025, without a club”, it stated.

“The Roca Team management have therefore decided to support him, by allowing him to continue working with the club’s medical staff. In order to be in optimal conditions for his rehabilitation process, and to do everything to heal as quickly as possible. AS Monaco Basket thanks John Brown III from the bottom of its heart for these two magnificent seasons and wishes him the best for the rest of his career”, the press release ended.

The player followed the announcement with a critical post on his Instagram stories. “Well, that was unexpected”, the defensive specialist commented.
