Bayern Munich put on arguably its top performance in the preseason so far to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 107 – 95 in the opener of the “Neophytos Chandriotis” tournament held in Cyprus.
Carsen Edwards led Bayern with 27 points. Devin Booker had 21 points and Shabazz Napier provided the Bavarian side with 14 points and six assists. Their team was particularly powerful in the third quarter to transform a 54 – 51 lead into 85 – 71, entering the fourth period.
Rokas Jokubaitis scored 24 points for Maccabi. Jordan Loyd added 15 points plus four assists and Wenyen Gabriel notched 13 points and seven rebounds.
Bayern will face reigning EuroLeague champion Panathinaikos Athens on Sunday. Maccabi will clash vs. the Greens the next day.
