Sasha Vezenkov’s first run with Olympiacos ended with bittersweet feelings. The Greek side won their last Greek League before Panathinaikos’ dominant 2023-24 season but lost in the last few instants of the EuroLeague Final against Real Madrid, which emerged victories thanks to Sergio Llull’s clutch jumper.

After one season full of ups and downs with the Sacramento Kings, he’s back in Europe with the red-and-white side to trying to get every hardware available. Speaking to Cosmote TV after the friendly game win over Fenerbahce, he expressed his wish. “I came to conquer all the titles”, he fiercely said.

“I did not come to finish something but to start something new. I missed the joy of the game, that’s why I live every moment on the floor. I missed being important and helping. I’m grateful for that because nothing is taken for granted”, the 2022-23 EuroLeague MVP also stated about returning home.

Commenting on the preseason encounters with Virtus Bologna and Fenerbahce, he knows Oly has to improve. “We are happy to have won but also concerned, as our image is not what we want, especially two weeks before the start of the EuroLeague. Our talent is great. We want to play right, we want to play winning basketball. We have a lot of good players, but we have to become a team”, he emphasized.

He spoke more in detail about the Turkish powerhouse too. “We know that we will play [each other] on the first matchday in a short time. We didn’t play well and that’s a given. We must not see this as an excuse that we are not ready, we must bind ourselves because they are waiting for us. We have the goal of winning the EuroLeague and we have to be ready”, Sasha Vezenkov also said.
