Maccabi beats Panathinaikos in Cyprus

Maccabi Tel Aviv had a strong fourth-quarter output to defeat Panathinaikos Athens 88 – 75 in the last game of the 5th “Neophytos Chandriotis” tournament, held in Cyprus.

Romain Sorkin led Maccabi with 18 points on 8 – 10 shots. Rokas Jokubaitis added 13 points and Levi Randolph had 10 points for a Maccabi team that outplayed Panathinaikos 30 – 20 in the last period.

Former Maccabi guard Lorenzo Brown had 14 points for Panathinaikos. Newcomer Omer Yurtseven posted 12 points and Mathias Lessort finished with 11 points. The Greens, that were without guard Kendrick Nunn, saw head coach Ergin Ataman getting ejected early in the fourth period after vehemently protesting a call.

Bayern Munich – Maccabi Tel Aviv 107 – 95

Panathinaikos Athens – Bayern Munich 86 – 69

Maccabi Tel Aviv – Panathinaikos 88 – 75
