Nick Calathes made Monaco his new home and as he explained, he didn’t have to dwell a lot on his decision: “For me, the choice to come to Monaco was easy”.

As the veteran Greek guard explained during the press conference of the team and the presentation to local media for the start of the season: “At this point in my career, my goal is to win titles. I want to bring my experience and leadership to this team. In my career, I think I’ve been in every possible situation. We have a group of veterans who know how to play together, adapt to others, and find solutions to make a team work.”

On the court, Calathes already feels Monaco is on the right track: “I like this team, a very nice group. I feel our potential despite the injuries and our preparation which is not ideal. As time goes by, we will play better and better all together. Every day, we improve as a collective. The Final Four is a realistic goal given the quality of our squad and its alchemy”.

And if you are wondering why he wears “33” on the back of his jersey, the answer is Larry Bird with a twist: “My number 33? I’ve always been a fan of Larry Bird, even if I would like to shoot as well as him!”
