As the team was keen to add another backcourt player to an already stacked department, AS Monaco reportedly wanted to bring Paris Lee back to the team, according to what was reported yesterday by Gabriel Pantel-Jouve of BeBasket.
However, 24 hours later things have changed. The same French reporter now states that the American point guard has ultimately decided to stay at ASVEL due to financial reasons.
The club’s president Tony Parker, moreover, said to Le Progres that the club refused Monaco’s offer. Instead, they’re planning on renewing Paris Lee’s contract up until 2027.
The 29-year-old point guard put up 11.0 points and 5.1 assists for the black-and-white French team last season across all competitions. He previously played in Monaco to start his EuroLeague career in 2021-22, moving to the Monegasque side that had recently won the EuroCup.
Over the course of his career, the naturalized Cameroonian player started the overseas journey with the Antwerp Giants, reaching the 2018-19 Basketball Champions League Final Four at home. Then, he moved to Brose Bamberg and Orleans in France, before getting Monaco’s call.
