AS Monaco’s head coach isn’t happy with how his team went though the preseason period

Monaco went through an interesting renovation this summer, bringing in several new faces like Nick Calathes, Furkan Korkmaz, and Georgios Papagiannis. However, at the helm of the team’s bench, there’s still Sasa Obradovic, who’s entering the fourth season with the red-and-white club.

Talking during the club’s season-opening press conference, the Serbian head coach expressed Monaco’s goals for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign in the EuroLeague and LNB. “We have new faces on our roster and new challenges ahead of us, but our goals are still very high”, he first said.

“Almost all teams in the EuroLeague increased their investments this summer. Therefore, I expect the league to be much stronger than last season. Our goal will be to continue staying at the high level we have achieved in recent years. Our job is not easy in the French League in the new season either, the number of EuroLeague teams in the league has increased to three”, he added.

The experienced mastermind also revealed he could have been happier with how the team’s preparation in the preseason went. “An interesting season awaits us. To be honest, I am not happy with the preparation period. The number of question marks in our minds increased as the weeks went by. We were not able to train in the best conditions for a very long time due to injuries and the Olympic Games. We still do not have clear views on our squad for the new season”, Sasa Obradovic ended.

AS Monaco’s first game in this year’s EuroLeague will be against EA7 Emporio Armani Milan on October 3 at 19:00 CET, but it’s unclear if Mike James will square off against his former Italian team. The reigning EuroLeague MVP is recovering from a back surgery.
