Dimitris Giannakopoulos talked to the new Best In Class podcast and one of the topics of discussion was his relationship with the owners of Olympiacos.

Panathinaikos BC AKTOR outspoken owner, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, accused the Aggelopoulos brothers of not wanting to bury the hatchet.

“These people have spent a lot of time, their energy, and their time and I have tried many, many times to have a relationship where our competition stays in the four lines for 40 minutes”, Giannakopoulos said.

“Unfortunately they don’t share the same opinion. Having beaten them so many times, they have the need to create tension in order for their fans to be happy. But they are two respectable people in society, they own very large companies with thousands of people behind them”.

‘EuroLeague is a strange creature”

It must be noted that Giannakopoulos himself, due to his behavior on social media and Panathinaikos, is among the most punished clubs by the EuroLeague with monetary penalties.

However, Giannakopoulos’ answer was the following: “EuroLeague is a strange creature. Some owners give their money, others are part of big athletic clubs like the Spanish teams, and there are other teams where there’s no owner, or no investor so I think that when we started questioning EuroLeague and Bertomeu where is the money going, that created a personal issue. So I think we faced unfair competition”.

As he added: “If a person slaps me, I will slap back. I don’t like slapping, but if somebody throws a stone at you, you have to take a big rock and destroy them”.

Jokic and Teodosic

Speaking about basketball, Giannakopoulos said that the player who would like to add to his team is none other than Nikola Jokic: “I stopped watching NBA after Michael Jordan and he is the reason I am watching again. Yes, if I could I would add him to my team and also I would like to have signed Teodosic in the past. Jokic’s last contract I think was $120M, so I don’t think it’s possible, but I would love that”.
