A fine is expected for Facundo Campazzo.

With Real Madrid visiting FC Bayern Munich in SAP Garden on Thursday evening, the experienced point guard protested a late no-call and was ejected. His heated reaction was met by teammates restraining him to avoid further and more intense complaints to the referees.

Reacting to the incident in Round 1 of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, Euroleague Basketball is opening a disciplinary proceeding against the two-time EuroLeague champion and member of the 2023-24 All-EuroLeague First Team.

Following a losing effort in Munich, Germany, head coach Chus Mateo shared his opinion during the post-game press conference“This is a situation in the game. The referees did a good job. Probably they didn’t see the foul. For sure they didn’t see this foul and this was the reason they didn’t call it,” mentioned the play-caller of the team based in the capital of Spain.

Campazzo, 33, lasted 27 minutes, recording 19 points behind 5/12 field goals, nine assists, two steals, and one rebound. An eventful start to the eighth expedition in Europe’s premier club continental competition for the Argentine floor general, a native of Cordoba.

Looking for the first win in the new EuroLeague campaign, Los Blancos welcome Partizan Mozzart Bet in WiZink Center in Round 2 next Thursday. Switching to Spain’s Liga Endesa and aiming to jump to 1-1 in the domestic league on Sunday, a home game against Casademont Zaragoza immediately follows on Sunday.
