Scottie Wilbekin suffers complete ACL tear

Fenerbahce Beko guard Scottie Wilbekin suffered a complete tear of his right anterior cruciate ligament, as Fenerbahce officially announced. The American player is expected to miss the rest of the 2024-25 season.

It was in the first quarter of Fenerbahce’s opening game of the 2024-25 EuroLeague regular season against Olympiacos Piraeus that Wilbekin was injured. Near the end of the period and just two minutes after entering the floor, he drove to the basket and made a jump-stop move, during which he got hurt.

Wilbekin was in visible pain and had to be carried off the court by his teammates. He underwent an MRI that revealed the full extent of the damage.

This is a major blow for both Wilbekin and Fenerbahce, right at the start of a long season in both the EuroLeague and the Turkish BSL League. The 31-year-old veteran is one of the team’s most experienced players, having been on the team since 2022.

With this turn of events, it’s more than possible that Fenerbahce will move to the market to fill Wilbekin’s spot in the roster.
