AS Monaco started its EuroLeague campaign with an important win at home over Milan, but it’s struggling to make an impact in the LNB also due to the injuries affecting Nick Calathes and Furkan Korkmaz. However, some new faces in the team could arrive to fill the gap.
According to L’Equipe, the Monegasque team is monitoring the situation around the American guard Antonio Blakeney, who’s coming off two high-scoring seasons in China. In the 2023-24 season, with the Nanjing Monkey Kings, he went off averaging 30.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Currently a free agent, he played 76 games with the Chicago Bulls between 2017 and 2019, putting up 7.5 points per game. During that time, he also played with the G-League affiliated franchise, the Windy City Bulls, before eventually moving overseas.
He has lived only one short stint in Europe, appearing in just four encounters for Hapoel Be’er Sheva in 2021-22. Despite that being only a limited amount of games, he still proved his offensive value, averaging 24.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game in the Winner League.
