Incoming updates on the financials of FC Barcelona include the basketball division of the storied club losing 10.34 million euros during the 2023-24 season.

The latest financial deficit of Barca was reported by Alvaro Carretero on specialized in sports business Spanish website, 2Playbook.

The numbers are still red but the negative balance is the lowest over the last couple of decades, as noted.

Incorporating the financial damage from the early termination of the contracts with Nikola Mirotic and Cory Higgins into the previous season eased the load on the 2023-24 budget, confirming projections. However, those settlements did skyrocket the financial deficit of the previous season to 56.6 million euros.

According to Christian Garcia of 2Playbook, the financial deficit on indoor sports across Barca was reduced by 63% to 27.6 million euros. Projections for the 2024-25 season increase the amount to 36 million euros.

In addition, the women’s football division surpassed the men’s basketball sector and ranked second on the club list in income, reaching 18,000,000 million euros, besides recording a season profit of 604,000 euros, as reported by 2Playbook’s Javier Izquierdo.

Early in the 2024-25 campaign, Barcelona sits at 0-1 in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season after a loss to Zalgiris last Thursday. In the Regular Season of Liga Endesa, a 2-0 W-L tally shapes the start for the team guided by new head coach Joan Penarroya. In the preceding 2024 Supercopa Endesa, archrival Real Madrid knocked out Barca in the Semifinals.
