Facundo Campazzo gets suspension and fine, Crvena Zvezda also sanctioned

Real Madrid will not feature Facundo Campazzo in Round 2 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.

Euroleague Basketball announced the disciplinary sanctions of Round 1 on Tuesday.

After opening disciplinary proceedings to closely examine the actions of the player during Madrid’s visit to FC Bayern Munich and SAP Garden last Thursday, the 33-year-old Argentine point guard received a one-game suspension. Therefore, he will sit out the meeting with Partizan Mozzart Bet in WiZink Center on Thursday. Sanctions against Campazzo extended to a fine of 5,000 euros.

“Mr. Facundo Campazzo, player of Real Madrid, has been sanctioned with a one game suspension and a fine of €5,000 for actions that represent a lack of respect towards the referees, on occasion of its away game against Bayern Munich under 27.2.b) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.”

€7,000 fine for Crvena Zvezda

Besides the experienced floor general, Crvena Zvezda Meridanbet was fined by Euroleague Basketball for items thrown by team supporters onto the court of Adidas Arena during a clash with Paris last Friday.

“Crvena Zvezda Meridanbet Belgrade has been sanctioned with a fine of €7,000 for the throwing of objects onto the playing court by its fans, on occasion of its away game against Paris Basketball under 29.2.h) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.”

Last week, the team based in Belgrade secured a win in the capital of France. In Round 2, taking on Baskonia in Belgrade Arena presents an opportunity to start the 2024-25 season at 2-0.
