The Istanbul derby between Fenerbahce and Anadolu Efes, the first in the EuroLeague this season, was marked by an incident involving Tarik Biberovic and Elijah Bryant.

The two got into a scuffle under the basket, with referees having to intervene and break them apart, ultimately resulting in both being ejected. EuroLeague announced disciplinary measures against the two, suspending them for one match.

Mr. Tarik Biberovic, a player of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, has been sanctioned with a one-game suspension and a fine of €5,000 for attempted physical aggression against another individual during the game between Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, under Article 27.2.e) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.

Mr. Elijah Bryant, a player of Anadolu Efes Istanbul, has been sanctioned with a one-game suspension and a fine of €10,000 for attempted physical aggression against another individual during the game between Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, under Article 27.2.e) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code,” EuroLeague announced.

They also confirmed a punishment of €4,000 for Mr. Sertac Komsuglu, an individual related to Fenerbahce, for showing a lack of respect towards the referees.

Biberovic and Bryant to play Round 3

These decisions may be appealed before the Appeals Judge, and both Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce Beko will use that right.

As in recent Facundo Campazzo’s case, until the final verdict is made, both Tarik Biberovic and Elijah Bryant are expected to play in the upcoming Round 3.

Anadolu Efes is set to visit Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv in Belgrade (15/10), while Fenerbahce will host Crvena zvezda Meridianbet (15/10).
