Responding to appeals submitted by Istanbul outfits, Fenerbahce Beko and Anadolu Efes, the Appeals Judge decided to maintain the sanctions on Tarik Biberovic and Elijah Bryant, per Eurohoops sources. Therefore, both players will sit out Round 3 of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.
The games concerning suspensions stretch from Fener hosting Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet in Ulker Sports Arena and Anadolu Efes taking on Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv in Belgrade’s Aleksandar Nikolic Hall on Tuesday evening.
In a similar situation last week, an appeal by Real Madrid on a one-game suspension against Facundo Campazzo led to the player becoming temporarily eligible and eventually playing in Round 2. According to a later ruling by the Appeals Judge, the Argentine floor general will serve his one-game suspension in Round 3 as well.
Separate decisions, regarding different player actions, by the Appeals Judge were based on what each team presented in their respective appeals, leading to temporarily suspending the sanction in the first case to the opposite in the two latest cases.
Besides the one-game suspensions, Bryant was issued a fine of 10,000 euros and Biberovic received a fine of 5,000 euros, upon their involvement in an incident during the meeting between Fenerbahce and Efes in Round 2.
Both are now eligible for Round 4, at the bottom end of the first two-game week of the new EuroLeague season. The team coached by Sarunas Jasikevicius will visit ALBA Berlin in Uber Arena on Thursday and the team coached by Tomislav Mijatovic will be at home to face Olympiacos on Friday.
