Picking up an injury in Round 4 of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, Ousmane Diop will be sidelined for at least three to four weeks.
EA7 Emporio Armani Milan updated the status of the 24-year-old Senegalese forward/center on Friday.
During the second half of the game against Zalgiris in Unipol Forum on Thursday evening, Diop sprained his right ankle, with no bone injuries involved, as noted by Olimpia Milan. He will be re-evaluated after three to four weeks.
Introducing himself to the premier club continental competition of Europe this season, after joining Scarpette Rosse during the offseason, the Senegalese big averaged 6.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.3 steals per contest over three appearances. His side sits at 1-3, one game behind the lowest seed leading to the Play-In Showdown and 1.5 games away from a direct ticket to the Playoffs, early in the 34-game double-legged round-robin schedule.
At the domestic level, he tallied 4.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game for the team coached by Ettore Messina. Earlier experience for Diop with Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari included 12 games played in the Basketball Champions League and 12 features in FIBA Europe Cup affairs en route to the 2018-19 championship, besides navigating four campaigns in the top-flight division of Italy.
