Due to a torn ACL and an injury to the lateral meniscus of his right knee, Nicolas Laprovittola will undergo surgery over the next few days.

Laprovittola, 34, was helped off the court by his FC Barcelona teammates, after hurting his knee on Sunday evening. He left Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season Round 4 contest against Baskonia in Palau Blaugrana with 3:32 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Immediate tests by the medical staff of the Catalonia powerhouse showed a knee ligament sprain. However, additional tests on Monday indicate a season-ending injury.

Barca will share an official timetable following the operation on his right knee.

At the top of his fourth campaign with Barcelona, the Argentine combo guard started the 2024-25 edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with 10.0 points, 6.2 assists, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game over four appearances. He helped the team coached by Joan Penarroya reach a 3-1 W-L tally.

At the domestic level, Laprovittola averaged 7.8 points, 5.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.3 steals per ACB contest over four appearances. His side was forced down to 3-1 by Baskonia, following his early exit.

Dario Brizuela, Juan Nunez, and possibly Dame Sarr are expected to take on more playing time deeper in the continental and domestic schedules, depending on potential developments in the Barca camp.

Other available players for Penarroya are Alex Abrines, Justin Anderson, Youssoupha Fall, Willy Hernangomez, Chimezie Metu, Jabari Parker, Joel Parra, Kevin Punter, Tomas Satoransky, and Jan Vesely.
