Crvena Zvezda is acquiring forward/center Filip Petrusev on loan from Olympiacos Piraeus according to Meridian Sport. The rumors of such a move have been going on since summer and it seems that the Serbian big man will be returning to Red Star at least for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Petrusev wouldn’t be able to get sufficient minutes at Olympiacos with the return of both Moustapha Fall and Nikola Milutinov from injury, combined with the presence of Sasha Vezenkov and Alec Peters at the “4”. In the meantime, Zvezda had a major gap to fill on its frontline lineup in light of Joel Bolomboy’s injury.

In the last two EuroLeague games of Olympiacos vs. Olimpia Milano and Anadolu Efes, Petrusev played 6:33 and 7:17 respectively.

Last season Petrusev averaged 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds over 15:37 minutes in the EuroLeague with Olympiacos after a very brief stint in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Sacramento Kings at the start of 2023-24. He had a productive run with Zvezda in 2022-23, posting 10.7 points and 5.2 rebounds in 22:39.
