After suffering one of the greatest comebacks in EuroLeague history against Zalgiris Kaunas, Milan couldn’t fight back against Anadolu Efes, losing in consecutive games at home in the EuroLeague.
Ettore Messina looked disappointed in the post-game press conference. He opened on being down by 20 points in the first half already. “They were clearly imposing their will during the first half. Honestly, it was a shame: lack of competitiveness, and effort to do things together. It was really hard to watch”
“We need to come back to the gym, close the door, and work as hard as we can, understanding if there’s a way to get this better”, he added. “We finished the first half with 5 fouls, it’s unacceptable at this level”, Ettore Messina also said before answering if the team is thinking about changing some pieces.
Is Milan looking for roster changes?
“We are asking ourselves the same question. So, we need to think about it calmly. It’s difficult for me to answer right now. We all see what’s happening. The topic is about understanding if we can turn this attitude around quickly, or if what we saw in September – a team with a harder mentality – was an illusion”, Milan’s head coach also followed.
Ettore Messina then commented on the team’s lineup, suffering opposing rapid runs to open games. “We didn’t want to have [Nenad] Dimitrijevic on the court with [Shane] Larkin. We thought he could have been more useful during the game. Leandro [Bolmaro] puts a significant defensive pressure”, he said.
“[Nenad Dimitrijevic] is struggling in every position, both on offense and defense. He’s finding great difficulty because the impact of this level is making things tough for him. Our job is to help him, and he must not have excuses in his mind, trying to make a step forward every day. There’s a matter of competitiveness on both sides of the floor physically”, he shared on the North Macedonian point guard.
