EA7 Emporio Armani Milan updated the status of Shavon Shields on Tuesday.

Shields, 30, will be re-evaluated in two weeks upon a muscle injury in the groin.

The Danish forward was hurt during Round 5 of Italy’s LBA UnipolSai Regular Season. He lasted only two minutes against Napoli in Unipol Forum on Saturday.

Already sidelined for Round 6 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season and a road game against Baskonia tonight, will additionally sit out several more games, including clashes with domestic rival Virtus Segafredo Bologna and Real Madrid in Europe’s premier club continental competition.

Besides Shields missing the game against his former team, David McCormack (knee) and Ousmane Diop (ankle) are expected to remain on the injury list. Head coach Ettore Messina also missed the trip to Vitoria-Gasteiz with his assistant Mario Fioretti temporarily taking over head-coaching responsibilities, as announced on Monday.

At the top of his seventh EuroLeague campaign and fifth with the Milan outfit, Shields averaged 11.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest over five appearances, all starts under the guidance of Messina. At 1-4, his side sits two games outside the Play-In Showdown zone. With 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per contest, he contributed to a 4-1 start at the domestic level.

Since joining Scarpette Rosse in 2020, the former Nebraska standout was named in the All-EuroLeague Second Team of the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons and won multiple domestic titles, including three league championships.
