Nicolas Laprovittola is expected to remain on the sidelines for the next ten months.
FC Barcelona updated his injury status on Wednesday, confirming the initial projections about him missing the rest of the 2024-25 season.
The 34-year-old Argentine combo guard was set for surgery due to a torn ACL and an injury to the lateral meniscus of his right knee. He was hurt during Round 4 of Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season, late in a clash with Baskonia in Palau Blaugrana. Upon a successful operation on Tuesday afternoon, Barca projected rehabilitation to last ten months.
With his fourth campaign at the Catalonia giant cut short, he went for 10.0 points, 6.2 assists, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game over four appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. In Spain’s Liga Endesa, he added 7.8 points, 5.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.3 steals per contest over four appearances.
It remains unclear whether the team coached by Joan Penarroya will seek an additional backcourt option. Up to 5-1, Barcelona currently ranks first in the EuroLeague. At 3-2 at the domestic level, the tally is tied for fourth in the standings and trails undefeated Unicaja by two games.
Laprovittola, a veteran of 185 games played in Europe’s premier club continental competition and 276 ACB appearances, joined Barca before the 2021-22 season, following two years on the opposite end of the rivalry with Real Madrid.
Back in the 2016-17 season, he featured in 18 NBA games with the San Antonio Spurs.
