Lonnie Walker IV landed in Kaunas on Sunday night.
The 25-year-old swingman, a veteran of 343 appearances in the NBA, talked about his decision to sign a contract with Zalgiris for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
“Excitement. I am very optimistic for what is to become,” he mentioned, “I am going to a great team. They are having a hell of a time in the EuroLeague.”
Guided by experienced Andrea Trinchieri, Zalgiris currently leads the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings behind a 6-1 start in the 2024-25 Regular Season. In the Betsafe LKL, blowing out Uniclub Bet – Juventus in Zalgirio Arena improved the W-L tally to 5-2, during Walker’s flight to the second-largest city of Lithuania.
“They play defense. They play team basketball. They play winning basketball,” the former NBA player shared his impressions of his new team, “That is something that I am always excited to be a part of, which is just winning basketball and being able to fight for a title and whatever aspect it might be.”
“Let’s keep working, keep fighting, and let’s keep going towards our goals,” he concluded his introduction to Zalgiris fans in the Kaunas International Airport.
The Kaunas outfit resumes action in Round 8 of the EuroLeague Regular Season, against FC Bayern Munich in SAP Garden on Thursday.
It remains unclear whether the former player of the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets will debut immediately in Europe’s premier club continental competition.
