After many twists, David DeJulius left Aris BC today and will join Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv to make his EuroLeague debut, with the Greek club receiving a buyout.
According to Eurhoops sources, the American point guard will meet with Maccabi in Tel Aviv and be available for the upcoming EuroLeague game against Virtus Bologna.
The player is also expected to travel back to Israel for the domestic league games, contrary to Saben Lee, who competes only in the EuroLeague and stays in Belgrade, where the team hosts the games.
DeJulius was a standout performer for the Thessaloniki club, averaging 14.3 points in his six BKT EuroCup appearances.
The former Michigan and Cincinnati player suited up for Lavrio in Greece and Gottingen in Germany last season before moving to Aris this past summer.
Maccabi officially confirms DeJulius
As announced, the 25-year-old David DeJulius signed a two-year deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
“We need reinforcement at the guard position, and I’m glad DeJulius is joining us,” explained coach Oded Kattash. “He’s a young player, and I like the age at which he’s coming to us. He’s a scoring point guard with a lot of upside and room to grow and improve. We’ll get him up to speed.”
DeJulius shared his first impressions after the news was made official.
“I’m so excited that it’s finally completed and I’m on my way to you. I’m excited to meet the coaches, my teammates, the city, and the fans. I’m eager to start working for you. Let’s go!”
