Olimpia Milano has reached a multi-year agreement with Italian point guard Niccolò Mannion, as officially announced by the Lega Basket defending champions.
Mannion joins Ettore Messina’s team from Openjobmetis Varese, where he has been playing since December 2023.
“I am proud and deeply motivated to be part of such a prestigious organization with all its history. My intention is to make sure all the energy I have will be available to the coaching staff and to my teammates in order to achieve the best results together. I will work hard every day, aiming to win as much as possible in all competitions. My desire is to demonstrate that I am a player capable of playing at this level, but, even more, I want to contribute to the club’s successes. I am open to learning as much as possible because I am aware that I still have great room for improvement as a player. Finally, I want to thank Olimpia for this opportunity and for what was done to bring me to Milan,” Mannion said.
The 23-year-old point guard, born in Siena, spent a season in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors after being selected as the 48th overall draft pick, before moving to Virtus Bologna in the summer of 2021.
Two years later, he left Italy to join Baskonia but couldn’t find his place in Vitoria. Midway through last season, he moved to Varese, where he finished the season with averages of 20.3 points and 6.6 assists per game. In three Lega Basket appearances this season, Mannion has averaged 26.3 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds.
