Partizan Belgrade suffered its fifth straight loss in the 2024-25 EuroLeague regular season, falling to Barcelona 79 – 87 at home. It was another disappointing outcome for Zeljko Obradovic’s team and the Serbian coach took the main share of the blame.
“I feel sorry for the fans who were up to the task again,” Obradovic said in the post-game presser.
Partizan supporters witnessed a defeat in the Belgrade arena for the fourth time in five home games this season. “They played a key role on the road to an uncertain ending. Could we have won? We did, but we didn’t have enough concentration and experience. In addition, we have to draw fouls when we are not in the bonus. Since I sat on the coaching bench in 1991, I have never been in an easy situation. The results are not in line with expectations, but we continue to fight. Is that enough, then?”
Partizan fell behind 40 – 63 in the middle of the third quarter but managed to trim that deficit and approach 76 – 78 with 2:24 to play. Former Partizan star Kevin Punter and Alex Abrines took care of business for Barca though with some big buckets.
“We have to learn our lessons and get ready for Milan,” Obradovic added. “I appreciate and respect the players, they are fighting even though they are not in the desired shape, but I have to emphasize right away that I am absolutely aware that I am the first responsible for the results. It’s been like that all my life, I don’t have a problem with that. The president of the club Ostoja Mijailović congratulated the team on the fight, the leaders of the club are with us, the fans are with us, we have to continue the fight.”
