Freddie Gillespie plans to sign a contract with Olimpia Milan

Freddie Gillespie plans to sign with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, as reported by ESPN on Monday morning.

Gillespie, 27, was officially released by the BNZ Breakers on Monday.

“Freddie approached us and requested a release. While bittersweet, it was an opportunity that Freddie wanted to pursue and we support him. We look forward to watching his success in the future,” said Breakers CEO Lisa Edser, “We thank Freddie for his contributions to the club on and off the court and wish him the best with his new team.”

Replacing him, Tacko Fall will join the team coached by Petteri Koponen for the remainder of the 2024-25 NBL season, added ESPN insider Olgun Uluc.

With the New Zealand Breakers in Oceania’s National Basketball League, Gillespie tallied 6.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest and led the league with 1.8 blocks per game.

“I’ve built great and lasting relationships with my teammates, the Breakers staff, and our incredible fans,” he described the brief stint, “As I look ahead, I’m excited to begin the next chapter of my journey.”

Resurfacing in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, the Minnesota native carries the experience of 62 appearances between FC Bayern Munich and Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet. His previous experience in the Old Continent additionally featured the AdmiralBet ABA League, Serbian League, and Radivoj Korac Cup titles with Zvezda, plus a BBL-Pokal title with Bayern.

In the NBA through the first two years of his professional career, he played 29 games for the Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic.
